New Start, Old Practices
In 2007 about a dozen dairy farmers from the Tegernsee region decided to turn their backs on industrial agriculture and instead build a foundation that guarantees they can set their own terms for farming, for their product’s quality and its marketing. Why? Because what we produced – with so much heart and effort – was devalued from various sides: the price for milk was in freefall, scandals haunted the reputation of milk, and an entire profession (and with it an entire region) was in the hands of major international corporations and venturers.
The Naturkäserei was established in 2007.
The cooperative has 1729 shareholders.
Types of Cheese
In total we offer 20 types of cheese. Some of them are only seasonal.
22 farmers deliver their fresh hay milk every day.
